How to choose?

Choosing the appropiate material

Different types of glasses are made specifically for different types of applications. When choosing a type of glass, we recommend that some questions are asked.

 

Temperature

Is the temperature of the process above 300F?

If the answer is yes, then you can rule out the Tempered Soda Lime Glass 

Is the temperature of the process above 950F?

If the answer is yes, then you can rule out Tempered Borosilicate Glass, and you have to go with Quartz. 

Is the thermal shock going to be higher than 144 R?

If the answer is yes, then you can rule out the Tempered Soda Lime Glass 

Is the thermal shock going to be higher than 252 R?

If the answer is yes, then you can rule out Tempered Borosilicate Glass, and you have to go with Quartz.   

 

Type of Product in the system

Is the product in the system used for pharmaceutical applications?

If the answer is yes, then you have to choose Tempered Borosilicate Glass, as it is approved by the FDA for these type of applications. 

Is the product in the system used for food or dairy?

If the answer is yes, then you have to choose Tempered Borosilicate Glass, as it is approved by the FDA for these type of applications. 

Is the product in the system used for energy generation?

If the answer is yes, then we recommend to use either Tempered Soda Lime of Tempered Borosilicate, according with the temperature which will be used in the system. 

Is the product in the system used for water treatment?

If the answer is yes, then we recommend Tempered Soda Lime, as long as the temperetarue limitations allow it. 

Is the product in the system used for chemical applications?

If the answer is yes, then we recommend Tempered Borosilicate Glass, as the chemical resistance of this glass is ideal for these applications (with the only exception of hydrofluoric acid)
