Tubular Level Gage Glass is a transparent or red-line marked glass tube designed to measure liquid levels in tanks, boilers, and pressure vessels. Made from high-quality borosilicate glass, it features a low thermal expansion coefficient, allowing it to withstand sudden temperature changes without compromising its durability. Additionally, it resists high temperatures, pressure, and chemical attacks, ensuring a clear and accurate view of liquid levels.
The term "Heavy Wall" means that the glass has a greater thickness than the standard. This provides several advantages:
Increased strength:
The additional thickness allows the glass to withstand higher pressures, making it ideal for high-risk applications such as high-pressure boilers or demanding industrial processes.
Superior durability:
The heavy wall design reduces the risk of breakage due to impacts or mechanical stress.
Better thermal insulation:
It can handle extreme temperatures more effectively than standard wall versions.
Oil and Gas Industry:
Monitoring fluids in storage tanks and pipelines.
Power Plants:
Controlling water levels in boilers and cooling systems.
Chemical Sector:
Inspecting reactors and vessels containing corrosive liquids.
Food and Pharmaceutical Industries:
Overseeing mixing processes and liquid storage.
Marine Sector:
Checking levels in hydraulic systems and fuel tanks.
Sight glasses for steam boilers are categorized into three main wall thickness types: standard wall, high-pressure wall, and heavy wall (the thickest). Each type is engineered to withstand varying pressure levels, ensuring the sight glass operates safely under the boiler's operating conditions.
The pressure resistance of a sight glass depends on its wall thickness. As the internal pressure in a boiler rises, the glass must endure the force applied to its walls. Thicker walls offer greater resistance to this pressure, thereby decreasing the risk of breakage. For instance:
Standard Wall:
Suitable for low-pressure situations where the internal pressure is within the glass’s capacity.
High-Pressure Wall:
Designed for medium to high-pressure scenarios, providing enhanced resistance and safety.
Heavy Wall:
The thickest option, ideal for extremely high-pressure settings where maximum durability and safety are essential.
These type of tubes are used for direct indication of the level in a recipient. These are used with Level Gauge Valves and washers, which can be purchased in our website as well.
Transparent tube, recommended for when the fluid is not translucid or the color in the level is important for the process at hand.
